The Twelve Information Opportunities of Christmas - Introduction

I was asked by the organisers of the Online Show in London to give a talk in their information masterclass series. One of the streams for the series is professional development.

A recession is a time to reinvent yourself. The Christmas holiday is a good time to review and reflect. In my view, it is easier to do this as a gentle process over a longer period of time rather than to sit down and do it in one fell swoop.

We are in a time of year when Christmas songs assail our ears from TV, radio, in shops etc. One of the most famous songs is the Twelve Days of Christmas, so I decided to relate information opportunities to the verses of this song, by way of a reminder and a focus. In this way the idea of opportunities might come into our heads because of the background music while we are doing the shopping, baking cakes, driving the car, mending a fuse and going about our necessary activities. I thought it might be fun too...

There is a separate blog entry for each 'day', some of the 'days' are split into two or three blog postings. They are in order of day on the right hand menu...

Do let me know if you come up with any ideas for yourself for 2010!
